As an appealing alternative to traditional dormitory housing, new Bachelor of Fine Art students live in spacious, furnished secured and supervised apartments that are walking distance from the Corcoran's three locations and favorite destinations for Washington's large college student community.

In addition to large living spaces, each apartment is equipped with high speed Internet access, air conditioning, a full kitchen, local phone service and cable equipped televisions.

A newly renovated space off the lobby is available to Corcoran for social events, art exhibitions, studying and relaxing.

The front desk is staffed 24 hours a day and secured bicycle storage is available for Corcoran students.

Each floor has its own Resident Assistant (RA) who can answer questions about the College and provide advice or referrals for problems you may have. The RAs also plan monthly social and informational meetings during the year to help residents get to know each other, the campus, and the neighborhood. Resident Assistants are under the supervision of the Resident Director, who also lives in the building.

(For additional fees) Housekeeping service is available. Dry Cleaning: Daily valet service is offered (drop off clothes at front desk by 8 am, back by 5 pm: $1.25/shirt). Parking: Secure covered parking is available at an additional fee and is based on availability. Faxes: Faxes received by residents may be picked up at the front desk.

There is a coin operated Laundromat on-site as well as snack vending machines.

No animals are allowed in Corcoran-leased housing. This includes insects, arachnids, fish, rodents, birds and reptiles.

Housing is guaranteed for everyone who submits an Housing Application to Student Services by May 15th.

Students may make arrangements to remain in Corcoran housing during the summer semester. There is no roommate matching during the summer, therefore students will be responsible for locating roommates if they wish to share the rent expense.

Housing residents must comply with the rules of Student Conduct set forth in the Corcoran Student Handbook, with the rules of tenant conduct imposed by the Building Management and with the laws of the District of Columbia. Additionally, students must appear properly attired in the lobby, corridors and other public spaces in the building.Residents may not store hazardous, combustible or toxic materials, and may not operate heavy tools or machinery in the apartment.

Students living in Corcoran-leased apartments are required to sign a rental agreement prior to move-in. Student Services must receive a completed agreement before any keys will be issued. The rental agreement is a binding contract and should be read carefully. During the fall and spring semesters, only full-time Corcoran students may live in Corcoran-leased apartments. The maximum number of occupants are two per studio and three per one-bedroom. Guests may stay a maximum of five days/nights per month. Every student will receive a list of emergency numbers upon move-in. This information includes telephone numbers for Resident Assistants, the Resident Director, local hospitals, hotlines, local health clinics affiliated with the Corcoran and the Corcoran's 24 hour Security Desk.
