2009 Schedule Coming Soon
The Corcoran College of Art + Design is pleased to announce this year’s Visiting Artists schedule. These free programs bring artists, scholars, and critics to the Corcoran to participate in studio visits, seminars, and critiques with students and the public alike.
Through their contributions to classes and communication with faculty and students, visiting artists become a vital component of the Corcoran curriculum. Each one-day visit includes intensive in-class interactions focusing on critical discussion and the exchange of ideas, as well as lectures that highlight the visitor’s work and the role the artist plays in contemporary society. Occasionally, short-term residencies are developed to produce collaborative work between the visiting artist and the College community. Developed in partnership with the Corcoran Gallery of Art, the College’s Visiting Artists program is designed to further the role of the institution as one of the foremost presenters of art and ideas in the country.
All lectures are held in the Corcoran College of Art + Design’s Frances and Armand Hammer Auditorium, located at Seventeenth Street and New York Avenue NW. Seating is available on a first-come, first-served basis. Are you an artist interested in participating in the program? Please contact Elizabeth Rodriguez in the dean’s office at (202) 639-1803.
